Welcome to Early Year’s Foundation Stage
Welcome to Reception. You will be learning lots of new and exciting things this year. We will be learning our letter sounds through Read, Write Inc, and then using these to begin to read and write. In Mathematics we will explore numbers to 20 and use them in lots of different ways. We will also be learning new things though this year’s topics, including ‘All About Me, Transport and Castles, Knights, Princes and Princesses.
We look forward to this fantastic and exciting year ahead.
Now that you are in Nursery you will be learning lots of new things and gaining confidence to begin to do things independently. We will begin Phase 1 Phonics, developing our listening skills and then going on to listening for sounds in words. We will be learning to count within 10 and will begin to recognise what these numbers look like. We will also be learning new things though this year’s topics, including ‘All About Me, Transport and Castles, Knights, Princes and Princesses.
We look forward to a fun year ahead, making friends and learning.
A message from the Early Years Lead
Welcome to Early Years! My name is Mrs Edgington and I am the Early Years Phase Leader. I am responsible for making sure that your child covers as varied a curriculum as possible in Early Years to ensure that they are ‘school ready’ by the time they enter Year 1. Lots of our learning in this phase involves play, but we make no apology for this as your child is always developing their skills; whether this involves their speaking skills in role play, strengthening their fingers for writing in playdough or developing their upper body muscles by climbing outside. The Early Years Curriculum includes all of these skills and we have lots of fun developing them! I will do my utmost to ensure that each child to reaches their true potential and look forward to working with you all over this next year.
