Our Theologically-Rooted Christian Vision

CV Image.png

Our Christian Vision is rooted through Psalm 139 “I am fearfully and wonderfully made”. We believe that every person in our school community is purposefully made, deeply known and valued by God. We are committed to living out our Christian vision by recognising the God-given worth in every individual. Through love, belonging and growth, we enable all members of our community to flourish and shine as God created them to be, regardless of their background, ability or differences.

The vision is broken down into five key components that help our school community clearly understand how the vision drives the daily life of our culture and ethos.

Everyone is Loved...

We are grounded in the belief that every person is unconditionally loved and known deeply by God. God’s love is given freely, and there is nothing a person can do to make God love them any more or any less. God’s love restores us and brings forgiveness. “How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them” represents that God’s care is constant and intentional. It also reminds us that God has so many thoughts about us, that these cannot be counted! We are reminded that we are called to love others in the same way and that we should treat each other with kindness, compassion, dignity and respect. We aim to ensure that love is active and visible in our school through respectful relationships and the words/actions we use towards ourselves and others. Every person in our school community deserves to feel valued, safe and cared for.

Everyone is special...

We celebrate that each individual is wonderfully made by God. Humans are made in the image of God, which reminds us that no one is more or less important than another.  God’s design has ensured that we have been created differently from one another, and each person has unique gifts, talents and qualities that should be used purposefully and positively. “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb,” helps us to reflect on the distinctiveness within ourselves and in others. It also reminds us of the time, care and patience God has used to shape every special detail of our physical and spiritual beings. We are all masterpieces! We are reminded that we should respect each other’s differences and these should be celebrated not judged. We promote equality, dignity and respect for all members of our school community.

Everyone belongs...

We create a welcoming and inclusive environment where all members of our school community feel safe and accepted. Every person is created by God and known by God which means our lives are held within His presence. “You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me” reminds us that God is always with us, and so we ensure that our school is a place where everyone can truly belong. We are all children of God and God’s kingdom is open for all, therefore belonging is not limited by background, ability or difference. We are called to take responsibility and ensure everyone feels like they belong by showing care, support and understanding for each other. We will not be bystanders to exclusion and unkindness.

Everyone can grow...

We believe that growth is part of God’s intention for every person. Being ‘fearfully and wonderfully made’ does not mean that we are finished – it means that we are created with the potential to be continually shaped and transformed by God to become the person he has called us to be. “Search me, O God, and know my heart… and lead me in the way everlasting,” shows that growth is not something we do alone, true growth comes from allowing God to guide, shape and direct us. Growth is not only academic, but it is spiritual, moral and relational. In our school we grow together through learning from others and encouraging each other. We promote a growth mindset where we can learn from mistakes.

Everyone can shine...

We believe that all members of our school community are not only created with value but created with purpose – to reflect God’s light in the world. We shine bright, and share God’s goodness, by using our lives, gifts and actions to make a positive difference to the world around us. As “the night will shine like the day,” we believe that even in challenging times, everyone has the potential to bring light and hope to others because God brings us strength, hope and resilience. We will build a school community of kindness, justice and generosity. We support each other by encouraging confidence, courage and aspiration.
